Dr. Judith Abdel-Massih-Thiemann

Since ever my life was shaped by tight intercultural bonds. I was born in South Africa and grew up in South Africa and Germany (Bavaria). Even though I studied in Germany, I spent every free term abroad either for social work or to do research studies (South Africa, Namibia, Uganda, Ghana, Egypt, India and China). I loved and still love to connect with people to understand their situation and how they perceive their world. At the end I want to communicate, to interact to exchange perspectives, opinions and to mutually develop ways to improve our living conditions in a responsible and sustaonainable manner!

After I finalized my German Diploma (MSc equivalent) on educational science (focusing on adult education) and my PhD in cultural anthropology, I left to Sudan. I worked for eight years for the German Development Service (DED) as development advisor as well as  sector and regional coordinator in the field of democracy promotion and support to civil society. I moved on and became Portfoliomanager for the "Deutsche Gesellschaft für Internationale Zusammmenarbeit" (GIZ) in Amman/Jordan. After two years, I continued as team and project advisor for the GIZ in Ramallah/Occupied Palestinian Territories.

After I acquired this intense and profound theoretical knowledge and most importantly competencies and practical working experience in in the field, I decided to returned back to Germany with my family and to start my own business as freelance consultant for organisational and project development and for training within the international development cooperation, for election observation with EU and OSCE, as well as for political education and global learning with a special focus on the support for refugees and integration in my home area.
